A keeper looks after a collection of enchanted objects, each with its own history, temperament and mild opinions, and discovers that caring for magical clutter mostly means caring for the people attached to it. There is tea. There is found community. The stakes are approximately "will everyone be okay", and the answer is broadly yes, which after Rejection was medically necessary for this club. Vic prescribed it and Vic was right.
Exhibit F: the collection at rest. Teapot, key, mirror, scarf, bookmark, all accounted for. Do not wake the cat. She is load-bearing.
What Happens (gently, and without a single explosion)
The collection. Enchanted odds and ends, each wanting something small: to be remembered, to be mended, to be put somewhere with better light. The club's collective memory of the plot is 90 percent warmth and 10 percent plot, which we maintain is the correct ratio for this genre.
The people. Every object comes with a person and every person comes with a soft, fixable sadness. They get fixed. Slowly. Over tea.
The wobble. Even cosy books legally require one moment where everything might go wrong. It arrives, it wobbles, it is resolved with kindness rather than swords, and one member said "thank god" out loud.
The ending. Warm. We're not spoiling the details of a book whose entire deal is being a hug, but you close it feeling like someone has just tucked a blanket around your reading life.
Weird Things
The club read this immediately after Rejection, a scheduling decision now studied as the greatest act of aftercare in book club history. Vic denies it was deliberate. Vic is lying beautifully.
Julie Leong also wrote The Teller of Small Fortunes, meaning her whole catalogue is doing this to people on purpose.
Tea consumption during this book's meeting was the highest ever minuted. The spice counter on the homepage did not move once.

The minutes record zero arguments, one gentle disagreement about whether cosy fantasy "counts" (it counts, the motion passed, the objector was given more tea), and a unanimous request for Vic to be in charge of all post-trauma selections going forward. Kel has ratified this and taken credit for it.
